Gibbs Passive House

Gibbs Passive House Study

The Gibbs House is a historic residence owned by Western Michigan University and operated by the Office for Sustainability. Student fellows live here on an annual basis and work on campus sustainability projects. Gibbs is located on a 2 acre permaculture research demonstration site.

The Passive House Study is my Master's Thesis to determine feasibility for implementing Passive House strategies at the historic residence. The objective is to improve energy performance and occupant comfort through systems upgrades and building envelope redesign, while maintaining the historic integrity of the building.
